BUCHANAN, Ray W. - Died at Bluewater Health on June 7, 2007 surrounded by his family. Survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, MaryAnn, his sister, Amy King and his devoted children. Cheryl Ayres & Don, Louanne Braekevelt & Brett, Carrie McLeod & Luis Pohoda, Linda Jacklin & Wayde and Chris Buchanan & Susan. Ray was a very loving and proud grandfather of Westley, Jessica, Elizabeth, Tyler, Robert, Tara, Victoria, Michael, Jordan & Olivia and great-grandfather of Dakota, Settia & Devon. Also survived by brothers-in-law Jack Shaw & Velma, Doug Shaw & Irene and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Robert & Amy Buchanan and his mother and father-in-law Anne & Doug Shaw and Michael Balyk as well as his brother Bert Buchanan, sister-in-law Jane Chong and brother-in-law Leslie King. Ray was born in Pt. Edward on March 15, 1930 and lived in Sarnia with his family all his life. He was an accomplished Baritone and spent many years performing for appreciative audiences. His performances included the Canadian Opera Company, the Detroit Symphony and numerous theatrical productions across the Sarnia and Michigan area. He was heavily involved in many church choirs both as a soloist and choirmaster. His artistic flair and previous experience in the newspaper industry led him to graphic design and he and his wife MaryAnn owned and operated Cedarhill Graphics in Pt. Huron for over 30 years. Memorial visitation at STEWART FUNERAL HOME 254 George St., Sunday June 10 from 7-9 pm. Memorial service will be held at St. Bartholomew Church at 718 Cathcart Blvd. Monday June 11, 2007 at 11:00 am.
