KAROLYI On Friday June 8, 2007, surrounded by the loving arms of her three beloved children, Julianna (nee Izman) Karolyi, in her 85th year, was called to her eternal rest. Born in Monor, Hungary, she left her homeland in 1947 and moved to North Wales where she worked for one year and then on to London, England to improve her English. In 1949 she immigrated to Canada. With her husband, Joseph, she opened and operated Karolyi's Confectionary (the Red Store) on Linclon Street from 1956 to 1983. She retired and sold the store after Joseph passed away. For many years after her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting numerous crafts which she donated to the children's ward of the Welland Hospital and the local Women's Place Shelter. Predeceased by her husband Joseph, mother Julianna (nee Kocsis), father Josef Izman, and brothers Charles and Joseph. She is survived by her children, Joseph Frank Karolyi (Deborah), Irene Martina Jaspar (Ray) and Ann Catherine Oates (Phil), grandchildren Stacy, Jennifer, Amanda, Andrea and two great grandchildren Emerie and Eden. A private family service will be held at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland with cremation to follow.
