KOEBER, Lena (nee Pohonick) of Fonthill, formerly of Port Colborne passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Monday June 11, 2007, at the age of 81 years. Cherished mother of Tish McCollum, her husband Joe, and Marcia Bradley and her husband Tom, all of Fenwick. Proud grandmother of Kimberly Carmichael and husband Christopher, Kristin McCollum and her fiancé Jared Rouesselle, Chantelle Bradley and Tyler Bradley. She is survived by her sister Olga Tworyczuck and nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband Erwin Koeber, brother John Pohonick, her father Hnot Pohonick and mother Ann Halcovitch (Baba). She was born in Port Colborne on October 12, 1925. Before becoming a teacher she was a secretary at Port Colborne High School, and was a member of the Port Colborne Country Club and Club Rheingold. She was a passionate world traveler and an active member of the Welland Y.M.C.A., as well as the Red Hat Society. Lena enjoyed many years of teaching and coaching. In her retirement she and Erwin enjoyed time at Sherkston Shores, bowling with their friends, and volunteering at Roselawn Theatre. She was an avid member of Kirk On The Hill Presbyterian Church and had a strong commitment to her family and friends. Cremation has taken place. The Koeber family will receive friends at the PORT COLBORNE CHAPEL of the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOMES, 135 Clarence St. on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, Port Colborne, on Friday June 15th at 11:00 a.m. A private interment of Ashes will take place at a later time in Oakwood Cemetery.
