HARRISON, Douglas Stewart - May 28, 2007 at North Bay, ON in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Ina Sheridan, father of Patricia Harrison and Janet Harris. Predeceased by sons George and Thomas. Dear brother of Mrs. Bruce Grieg (Anne) OF Newmarket. Son of the late Robert and Kate (Baker) Harrison, predeceased by brothers Harry, Bill and sister Mrs. Ted Williamson (Reta). Douglas was born and raised in King, Ontario in a tiny farming community known as Snowball. Doug married Ina Sheridan of Newmarket in September 1943. They purchased the Aurora Dairy, which they owned for 13 years, selling the plant to Glenville Farms Dairy in Newmarket. Doug retained part ownership as Director & Manager. Doug was a very active young businessman in Aurora and involved with the organization of the town's first Junior Chamber of Commerce as well as an active member of the Aurora United Church. Doug joined the Lions Club in 1947 and was a life member of the Masonic Lodge. In 1959 with their family, Doug and Ina moved to Northern Ontario after purchasing North Bay Pure Milk Dairy. Doug operated and expanded his business until 1974 when he sold the production end to Eplett Dairies. Doug retired in 1987. Doug's passion was the Lions Club and he was an extremely active member for 60 years. He was District Governor Lions Int'l in 1969 and twice President of the North Bay Lions. The Northern Ontario Dairymen's Association had Doug serve as Secretary Treasurer for many years and he was also a member of the Ontario Milk Distributors Association. Doug attended Trinity United Church in North Bay. He was a staunch Conservative supporter and active member. He leaves 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews as well as countless friends. Visitation will be on Thursday May 31st from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 pm.
