PHILLIPS, Melville (Mel) - Passed away after a brief illness, peacefully surrounded by loving family, on Friday June 8, 2007, Mel Phillips, beloved husband of Dorothy Phillips (nee Meeking) and the late Marie Phillips, at the age of 81. Loving father of Elayne Fraser (Doug), Steen Phillips (Cornelia), Bryan Phillips (Brian Kirkwood) and Shannon Phillips. Loved grandfather of Andrea and Amy Fraser and Mark Phillips. Dear brother of Alma Ferguson. Predeceased by his siblings, Bea Blundell, Max Phillips and Cliff Phillips, parents, Nathaniel Steen and Elma Mae Phillips. Mel was a member of the Lion's Club and Chamber of Commerce in Wawa and an active member at St. John's Anglican Church in North Bay. Family receiving friends at the MCGUINTY FUNERAL HOME Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. Luncheon will follow in the funeral home reception lounge. As expressions of sympathy donations to the St. John's Anglican Church or North Bay General Hospital Fund would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
