Hazel GILBERTSON

McNEIL, Hazel (nee Gilbertson) A kind and gracious lady who bravely carried on after the sudden passing of her dear husband Leslie McNeil on July 27, 1976 in Ottawa. Surrounded by family at Henderson General Hospital in Hamilton on Sunday, July 22, at the age of 85, she peacefully rejoined the man she loved and missed so much. Celebrating her long and wonderful life and selfless dedication as a mother are her son mark, his wife Linda; her son James, his wife Janet and children Jaimie and Jeffrey. She is predeceased by brothers Sgt. John Gilbertson (an RCAF airman who died overseas on March 24, 1944), and Harvey and Bill Reid. She was the daughter of the late Edna Marian and John James Gilbertson. Born and raised in Hamilton, she lived many years in Ottawa and Manotick wither her husband Les, an engineer who worked as an executive for Texaco Canada Ltd. They were proud members of the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club. She is resting at the Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Street Hamilton. Visitation is Tuesday, July 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A service will follow with interment at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa on Wednesday.
