BOWER, Lillian M. (Jurmu) Age 82 a resident of Perth, Ontario passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center in Laurium, Michigan. She was born February 18, 1925 in Hancock, Michigan a daughter of the late Emil and Ida (Peteri) Jurmu. She attended the Calumet High School, graduating in 1943 and was in Calumet to attend her 64th class reunion on July 20th. On August 6, 1949 she was married to Alvan Bower in Detroit, Michigan. The couple immigrated to Canada in 1950 and made their home in the Ottawa area. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her faith and her family were the two mainstays of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Surviving are: Her husband of 58 years, Alvan; 2 daughters, Connie Preston of Campbell River, BC, Roberta Bower of Plano, TX; 2 sons, Gary (Janet) Bower of Plano,, Bruce (Tish) Bower of Plano, TX; 10 Grandchildren, Kimberley (Dale), Kelly, Dale (Katherine) Graham, Gregory, Janessa, Dan, Andrew, Stephanie, Peter; 6 Great Grandchildren, Joel, Talia, Natalie, Rebecca, Kyla, Liam; 1 sister, Elsa Haataja of Lake Linden, Michigan; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, July 29th, 2007 7 - 9 pm at O'Dacre Family Funeral Home, Perth, ON. A video tribute of Lillian's life will be at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at Asbury Free Methodist Church, Perth, Ontario Monday July 30th at 2 pm. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate memorials to be given to Lanark Gideons. The family thanks Dr. Lanczy and the staff of the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center in Laurium, Michigan as well as Joel Keranen of Erickson-Crowley Funeral Home In Calumet, Michigan.
