Gordon Ladd McCurdy (1922-2007) Peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Moncton Hospital, Gordon Ladd McCurdy, 85, of Buckingham Ave., Riverview, NB went home to be with the Lord. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, NS, June 27, 1922, Gordon graduated from Normal College in Truro, NS in 1940. After teaching one year, he enlisted in the RCAF in 1941, and saw active service in the European Theatre. Upon his return to Canada in 1945, he became a plumber's apprentice. In 1950, he moved to Moncton, NB to join Sumner Co. Ltd, where he worked for 36 years, before retiring in 1986. Gordon was an active member of Gunningsville Baptist Church, where he served his Lord faithfully in several capacities. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Pauline (Haley) McCurdy; two daughters, Janice McGuire (Chuck) of Wolfville, NS and Wendy DuBois (Dave) of Fredericton, NB; one son, Myles McCurdy (Jean) of Ward's Creek, NB; one sister, Ann Davison of Calgary, AB; twin brother, Charles McCurdy (Jessie) of Halifax, NS; brother-in-law, Lyall Swansburg of Dartmouth, NS; ten grandchildren, Mark McGuire, Shannon Skafte (David), Michael McGuire (Jennifer), Sean McGuire, Sunshine Connor (Patrick), Melody Arrington (Edwin), Joshua DuBois (Natalie), Jordan DuBois, Nathan McCurdy and Natalie McCurdy; one great-grandson, Dade Arrington; several beloved nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, C. Erwin and Alice (Ladd) McCurdy; sister, Helen; and brother-in-law, Ralph MacKichan; sister, Eileen Swansburg; brother-in-law, Rev. Fred Davison; and grandson, Matthew Gordon McCurdy DuBois. Visitation will take place at Gunningsville United Baptist Church, 160 Old Coach Road, Riverview with visitation on Thursday, July 26 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM A service of celebration will be held at Gunningsville United Baptist Church on Friday, July 27 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Blair Holden officiating . Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Garden, Salisbury Rd, Moncton, NB In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Baptist Ministries or the charity of your choice.
