Margeret A. Doane NORTH EAST HARBOUR, SHELBURNE CO - Margeret Doane, 89, passed away at the QE II on July 22, 2007. She was born in South Branch, Colchester County, the daughter of the late William Thomas and Ruth (Archibald) Nelson. She graduated from Normal College in Truro in 1937 and taught in several areas of Nova Scotia before marrying Allen Doane in 1947. They resided in New Glasgow until 1956 when they moved to Moncton, New Brunswick where they owned and operated a mobile home park. They returned to North East Harbour in 1987. They were members of the United Church of Canada and members of the Leisure Hour Club. Margaret was an active member and leader at the Steeves Memorial United Church in Moncton. She enjoyed her time with the Women's Institute in Shelburne County and regularly participated in the Senior Games in Shelburne. Margaret will be deeply missed by her daughters, Nancy (Paul) Doane, Halifax, Ann Tingley, Shelburne; granddaughter, Nancy Hopkins; and great grandsons, Jesse and Brett Hopkins, Halifax. Margaret is survived by her sisters, Edna Strum, Windsor, Anna (Alfred) Ross, Antigonish; sister- in-law, Rita Doane, Amsbury, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Allen; sisters, Isabel Nelson, Jean Nelson, Mary Dean, Lena Llewellyn; and brothers, George, Stanfield and Warren Nelson. The body has been cremated. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, in Port Clyde United Church, Rev. Cindy Dunnett officiating. Donations may be made to the Defibrillator fund c/o Sheree Smith, 5068 Shore Road, Shelburne, NS, B0T 1W0, or to the charity of your choice. Burial service for Margaret and Allen will be held in South Branch Cemetery, South Branch, Colchester County on August 11, 2007 at 2pm.
