SHALALA, JULIA AGNES - After a short stay at the Turnbull Home on August 4, 2007, we announce with great sadness the peaceful passing of our dear sister, aunt and friend "Julie". Born in Campbellton, NB, she was a daughter of the late John Peter and Minera (Andrea) Shalala. She was an employee of F. W. Woolworth & Co. for many years before going to the Ideal Store where she worked until ill health caused her retirement. She was a gracious and caring lady who expressed a great love for her family and who took great enjoyment in their presence. She was always generous, kind and thoughtful to those less fortunate, especially children. Julie was a member of the Canadian Lebanon Association, the Ladies of the Maronite Society and the Catholic Women's League. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Lieutenant John Shalala (United States Marine Corps), and his son, John Peter; her three sisters, infant Agnes Shalala, Elizabeth (Lee) Shalala, and Theresa (Terry) Shiner; sister-in-law, Margaret Shalala; brother-in-law, Samuel Shiner; and on August 1, 2007, by her great-great niece, Abigail Cedine McCarthy. She is survived by brother, Salim ( Bud ) Shalala; and sister-in-law, Cecelia Shalala, of Saint John; and brother, Norman Shalala of Toronto, Ontario; several nieces; nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Our lives will not be the same without her presence. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at St. Peter's Church with Mass of Christian Burial at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Donations to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital or St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to Dr. Susan Gray, doctors and staff at the CAM Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital and staff of the Turnbull Home for their exceptional care. www.fitzpatrickfh.com August 07, 2007
