HOLMES, Donald Arthur “Art” Holmes - passed away peacefully at the Chatham- Kent Health Alliance on Monday August 13, 2007. He was born in Harwich Township 74 years ago to his parents Verna (Hartford) of Ridgetown and the late Charles Holmes. Art wore many hats in his lifetime, being employed by Bell Canada, the Ontario Provincial Police and the Campbellford Pulp Company. He ran his own business, Holmes Electric in both Campbellford and Blenheim for many years. Art's passions in life included camping, fishing and most importantly his wife Audrey (French) who he married on Valentines Day, 54 years ago. Together they raised their children Wendell (Linda) Holmes, Annalea (Rick) Benn and Janette Holmes who all reside in Blenheim. He will be missed by his grandchildren Amanda LeBlanc (Marc) of Mississauga, Maureen Holmes, Wayne Holmes and Erin Benn of Blenheim and Terri Krouse (John) of Chatham and by his great grandchildren Tyler LeBlanc, Avery Krouse and Conner Holmes. Art is survived by his brother Glenn (Elaine) Holmes of Kincardine, and children Mark Holmes (Lynn) and Pam Plagos (George) and families and by his sister in law Mollie French and children Brian French & David French and family. He was predeceased by his brother in law Murray French. Art will be remembered for his involvement in the community having been a member of the Blenheim Optimist Club, a coach of the Youth Bowling Council, a member of the North Buxton Men's Choir, a former member of the Blenheim Public Utilities Commission and a former trustee of the Blenheim Baptist Church until ill health forced his retirement. He also volunteered as the dispatcher for Operation Red Nose at Christmas time. Family and friends will be received at the BLENHEIM COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME on Thursday from 2 - 4:30 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Art will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday August 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Alvin Armstrong officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
