NELSON, S. Herbert - Herb died peacefully in his sleep Sunday, August 12th in his 87th year at the Niagara Falls Hospital after a long, interesting life. He is survived by his sister Louise, his longtime companion Beverley Johnson of Buffalo, his former wife Lorraine, his son John and his wife Debbie and their children Sarah and Ben, his son Christopher and his wife Alison and their children Miles and Olivia, his son Herbert and his wife Andrea and their children Ryan and Madison and his son William. Herb was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Bertha, and his sister Doris and his brother George. He will be dearly missed by many friends and acquaintances far too numerous to mention. One who stands out as a true and genuine friend is Cristina Isabettini.Herb was the founder of Colonial Lighting Company and proudly designed and built lighting fixtures for many of Canada's most important buildings including the Parliament and Senate of Canada as well as Provincial capitol buildings. The Port Colborne Association for Community Living was one of the beneficiaries of his passion, dedication, vision and tireless work. Anyone wishing to send remembrances should make donations to them in Herbs' memory. There will be a private, family service followed soon by a celebration of his life, the details of which will be publicized soon.
