FORTIER, J.W. Guy Peacefully, in his 78th year. Guy is survived by his wife Jill, son Jim and daughter Lynn, as well as granddaughters Lisa and Jill, and great-granddaughter Emma. Guy led a very full life, and had three successful and distinct careers. He was lucky enough to be able to combine his love of music and his country by joining the RCAF in 1946. He was a musician (trumpet player) in the RCAF Central Band, from which he retired as a Flight Sergeant in 1966. After this, Guy went on to his second career, as an Economist in both the departments of National Health & Welfare, and the Department of Finance. Retiring from the public service in 1969, Guy moved into the private sector, working as an investment councilor/stockbroker for F.H. Deacon Hodgson Inc., followed by Nesbitt-Burns, until his retirement. Guy's family is very proud of him and of his many accomplishments. They also wish to thank the staff at Saint-Vincent Hospital for the excellent and loving care provided while he was there. He will be greatly missed. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa, on Friday, August 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, August 4th at 10:00 am. Reception to follow in the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 8/2/2007 - 8/3/2007
