DEMERAH, Joseph William James "Jim" (retired Canada Post & Veteran WWII- RCAF) K of C Council 485 Peacefully in hospital on Thursday August 2, 2007 at the age of 87 years. Jim Demerah, dear son of the late Emmanuel Demerah and Margaret Kearns. For 64 years Lillian McCrank was "the best wife a fellow could wish for". Cherished father to Joyce (Dr Ron Lavigne), Peter (June), Chris (Christine) of Oshawa, Dan, David and James Demerah. Loving Grampa to Kimberley (Dave McWaters), April (Paul Prior), Tony (Kim Ann), Rachelle (Mike O'Neill), Chantal (Steve Gillan ), Paul Lavigne, Curtis and Tyler Demerah. Loving great grandfather to Brady, Leah, Callie, Wyatt, Quinn, Sienna, Carla, Mackenzie, Layla, Holly, Madeline, Bryn, Ryan and Leah. Predeceased by a sister Mary McCaffrey and brothers William, Rev. Emmanuel CSsR and Doherty "Doc" Demerah. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and friends and tenants; who he regarded as his extended family. Jim's family wish to extend their deepest gratitude and thanks to the staff of Alta Vista Manor, the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre and the Ottawa Hospital - General Campus for their care and dedication. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the Whelan Funeral Home 515 Cooper St (between Bay & Lyon) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A mass of Christian Funeral will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (1758 Alta Vista Dr.) on Wednesday August 8, 2007 at 10 AM. Donations in memory to the Alzheimer's Society greatly appreciated by the family.
