SMITH, Desmond Hudson Passed away peacefully at the West End Villa on Wednesday, July 25th, 2007 at the age of 80 years. For the last 20 years, Des and his wife, Mildred (nee Roberts - December 15, 2006), resided in beautiful B.C. Des returned to Ottawa earlier this year to be closer to family, but unfortunately poor health accompanied him and he succumbed to his Alzheimer's disease. Des is survived by his brother Bud (Sheila), brother-in-law Bill Roberts (Theresa), sister-in-law Hilda Burrows (Harry) and many nieces and nephews. Des was predeceased by his parents Foster (1965) and Margaret (1934), brother Ross (1954) and sister-in-law Winnifred Power (2005). The family will receive friends at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on Saturday, August 25th for a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., followed by a reception. Interment will take place at Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby, B.C. at a later date. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated. Published in the Ottawa Citizen on 8/4/2007
