Reg MACNEIL

MacNEIL, Reg Reg MacNeil of Coniston, Ontario, and originally of Halifax, Nova Scotia; passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. Reg greatly loved life and his wife Marion, family, friends, Coniston and church. Predeceased in 1998 by his beloved wife Marion, Reg has three sons: Bruce (Margaret) of Kitchener; Paul (Paulette) of Ottawa; and, Peter (Janet) of Caledonia - and a "fourth son", Larry (Karen) Tregonning of Coniston. Seven grandchildren: Karen (Alan); Stephen (Gloria); Dave (Angelique); Rob (Miriam); Aline; Keith (Maiju) and, John. Also five great-grandchildren: Josh; Alexandra; Baden; Kendyll; and, Gavin. Reg (also known as Big Mac and Mr. M) was a friend to many people and felt "rich" because of his friends. Reg received his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Mary's University in 1935 and his bachelor of Mining Engineering degree from Nova Scotia Technical College (Dalhousie University) in 1937. Reg later worked for International Nickel Company (INCO) for 30 years at the Coniston and Copper Cliff smelters. Reg was a very active member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Coniston for almost 50 years and a long time volunteer (e.g. scouting movement, St. Paul the Apostle's youth group, Sudbury Telecare, Coniston Library Board). He had also served as an elected member of the Coniston Town Council. Reg will be greatly missed but his life will be regularly celebrated by all who knew him. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday). Funeral Mass in St. Paul the Apostle Church, Coniston, Thursday, August 9th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the S. John Cemetery, Garson. (Prayers 3 p.m. Wednesday).
