PRITCHARD, Penelope Atwood Of Cullowhee, North Carolina passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, August 11, 2007 in her beloved mountains of Western North Carolina. A native of Clinton, North Carolina, she was educated at Peace College and at the Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William and Mary. Throughout her life she pursued her vocation as an artist. She was a resident of Ottawa from 1958 to 1988. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Mildred Atkins, and a sister, Ruth James Jones. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Dr. Ian Pritchard; a son, James Atkins Pritchard; three daughters, Penny Wieser (Jeff Wieser), Meg Vandergon (Mark Vandergon), and Lucinda Pritchard (Ken Hudson); two sisters, Mildred Lee and Jane Newton; four granddaughters, Jamey and Jenna Wieser and Molly and Emily Vandergon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 17th at First Presbyterian Church in Sylva, North Carolina.
