WOOD, James William (Jim) - James William (Jim) Wood, 81, of R.R.#4, Simcoe died at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Tuesday, August 21, 2007. Born in Simcoe, he was the son of the late Arthur Wood and Gertrude Taylor. Jim was employed by Bluebird Canada for 25 years. He served overseas with Toronto Scottish Regiment during World War II. He was a member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 79 and Army Navy and Air force Unit 255. He served for many years on the Warrior's Day Committee having been Past Chairman. Besides his wife the former Marian Taylor, he is survived by children Donna Backus and husband Jack, Stewart Wood and wife Pennie, Sharlene Gordon and husband Iain and Lance Wood. Predeceased by a daughter Sandra Hall and survived by son-in-law Terry Hall. He is the brother of Dorothy Lee (Alan), Margaret Sowden, (and the late Sam) Reg Wood (Pat), Ken Wood (Betty) the late George Wood. Survived by sister-in-law Velma Wood. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and predeceased by a granddaughter Justine Wood. Friends are invited to call at THE FERRIS FUNERAL HOME, 214 Norfolk St., S., Simcoe on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where service will be conducted on Friday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. Major Brian Coles officiating. A combined Legion and Army and Navy service will be held Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
