VANDERVEEN, John - Lords Day 1 - Q: What is your only comfort in life and in death? A: That I am not my own, but belong - body and soul in life and in death to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. The Lord called one of his own home - Johannes (John) Vanderveen Thursday August 30, 2007 in his 81st year. Surrounded by the love of his family. He is survived by his loving wife Janke (nee Mook) of 58 years, 9 children, 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Gerda Earl (Al), Jeff, Keith and Louise, Derek and Joshua, Lori and Chris, Steven and Tina, Ashley, Alicia and Owen and Lisa; Hank Vanderveen (Betty), John and Cathy - Alyssa, Erica and Brianna, Scott and Alana and Colin. Anne Grande (Domenic), Pamela and Pat, Michael, Daniel and Angela; John Vanderveen (Mary Anne), Karen and Doug, Eric and David and Brianne; Jake Vanderveen (Diane) and Daryl; Nancy Vanderveen (Ted), Janie and Josh and Taryn, Aaron, Michelle and Benjamin and Ashley and Louie; Beverly Kiers (Ron), Kelsey and Kayla; Angela Williams (Don), Dennis and Kristen; Marty Vanderveen (Karen). Also by John's sister Imie in Germany. John was predeceased by two infant daughters, his grandson James, also by his sisters Boukje and Aukje and brother Jan all in the Netherlands. John immigrated to Canada in 1952 from the Netherlands. He worked in the construction field and later as a farmer, but most will remember him as Wainfleets garbage man extrordinaire. After retiring he resided with his wife Janke at Evergreen Place in Welland. As a family we would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Wayda at the Port Colborne Hospital for all their kindness, caring, love and compassion they showed our father and his family in his last month. Resting at the LAMPMAN FUNERAL HOME 724 Canboro Road, Fenwick. For visitation on Monday September 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family interment will take place on Tuesday September 4th followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Christian Reformed Church in Welland. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in John's memory be made to Open Arms Mission in Welland. 10809655
