EDGECOMBE, MARY S. - At the Ridgewood-Veteran's Wing, Saint John, NB on August 29, 2007 Mary Selena Edgecombe of 310 Woodward Ave., Saint John, formerly of Douglas Ave. Born in Fredericton, NB she is the daughter of the late Charles Percy & Edna Margaret (Noble) Edgecombe. Mary, a graduate of McAdam High School and the Moncton School of Nursing, she went on to serve in the Canadian Army with the Nursing Sisters. During World War II she served in such areas as England, North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. After the war she worked with the D.V.A. as a Head Nursing Supervisor for 27 years, retiring in 1972. She was a longtime member of Portland United Church. Mary is survived by nephew, Percy (Marilyn) Edgecombe of Saint John, NB; six nephews; and eight nieces in various parts of Canada. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mary was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Moffitt; four brothers, George R. (Dick), Edward N., W. Donald, and J. Roy. By Mary's request there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place followed by a memorial service to be held at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., West Saint John, NB (506-634-1701) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Extension, Field of Honour, followed by reception at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre.
