SMITH, Robert Charles Born June 21, 1960 in Ottawa, Canada, died on July 20, 2007 near Covode, Pennsylvania in a private plane crash. Rob grew up in Des Moines, Washington. He was a special education teacher for several years, taught French, and later became an installation, technical support specialist, and trainer for CAD-CAM software. His customer base included many parts of the US and Canada, particularly Eastern Canada, Ontario and Quebec. Fluent in French in his twenties, he made several trips to Europe where he met his future wife, Catherine Ploue. They made their home in Renton, Washington and had two daughters, Leah and Alexie. Rob enjoyed working on cars, restoring antique planes, piloting, windsurfing, parasailing, riding his motorcycle, and most recently completed a remodel of the family home. Besides his wife and daughters, Rob is survived by his mother, Lois (Collard), sister Paula (Tim Olcott), brother Dan (Lisa Glickman), nieces Emma and Eloise, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Thomas Leo Smith in 1993 and sister Colleen in 1985. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23rd in Renton, Washington.
