KHAN, Lawrence Amin (Nov. 13, 1933 - Aug. 20, 2007) It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of "Larry", "Lorenzo", "Amin-brother", "Uncle Amin", "Pappi" who passed peacefully on Monday morning. He will be lovingly missed by a large and adoring family, including his wife, Estelle and his children, Christina (Bill), the late Kenrick, Pat (Mike), Winston (Yasmin), Jenny (Ray), Malcolm (Mervina), Michael (Wiletta), Kathy (George) and Dereck (Tammy). Gramps will also be dearly missed by 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces in Canada, the U.S. and Trinidad. Amin arrived in Canada in 1973 and worked for almost 20 years between the National Art Gallery, Transport Canada on Heron Road and CHEO. He fought valiantly and bravely against the odds, overcoming many challenges, always with a smile on his face, a joke or two to offer and a good chuckle. He has taught his loved ones, both young and old, the power of the human spirit and the strength of a positive attitude. Friends may visit at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion), on Thursday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. "Time is a gift. Go catch some walleye in the sky now Gramps- until we meet again..." Condolences may be sent through www.mem.com . Published in the Ottawa Citizen on 8/22/2007
