BAILEY, Howard G., M.M. Sergeant (Retired) The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa WW II Veteran D Day Survivor Howard passed away Tuesday, 21 August, 2007 in the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus at age 87. He was predeceased by his parents Ethel and Everett and his son Ward of Sherbrooke QC and is survived by his wife Lois (nee Presley) of Ottawa, brother George of Florida and his daughter Beth of Montreal. Sgt. Bailey joined The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada at the outbreak of the war and was subsequently transferred in England to The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa with which he continued to serve for the duration. During the war he was wounded by shrapnel and was decorated for bravery. He was awarded the Military Medal by Field Marshall Montgomery. Howard was a long time member of The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Regimental Association and served as its President for many years. He was proud to have represented the Association and Regiment overseas on a number of pilgrimages. Howard was also a member of Edinburgh Lodge # 736. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (a Masonic Service will be held in the Chapel at 6:30 pm) and on Saturday, August 25th after 1:30 p.m. until time of service in the Chapel at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Foundation, PO Box 180 Stn.
