BECK, Emil Passed away in his 75th year on August 19th, 2007 with his loving family by his side. Emil is survived by his beloved wife Alba (Makuc), daughter Cynthia (David Whillans), son Tony (Moira Farr), adored granddaughter Morgan Whillans, sister Rose Misich (Branko) and sister-in-law Mathie Beck (William.) Emil arrived in Canada from Croatia in 1950. He met his wife Alba of 54 years in Ottawa, worked during the day at Sperry Gyroscope/Honeywell to support his family and studied at night to become an accountant. Emil had the dubious honour of being the longest living dialysis patient in Eastern Ontario having undergone treatment for 34 years. He fought against all odds overcoming constant challenges through which he was assisted by the excellent support of the Civic Dialysis Unit, his own fortitude and determination and by the devoted care provided by his wife Alba. His life is a testament to the strength of will and spirit in the face of continuous struggles with ongoing illness. A memorial service will be held at Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road) on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m. followed by refreshments. Visitation will be held immediately prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In Emil's memory, donations to the Canadian Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
