THOMPSON, Marjorie E. Peacefully at West End Villa on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, aged 93. Marjorie was born on November 14, 1913, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan to the late Archibald and Sarah Winter. She graduated from the School of Nursing at Regina Hospital and served as a nurse in the Canadian Air Force Medical Corp at Fort McLeod, until she married in June, 1942. She and her husband C. Robert (Rob/Bob) Thompson, settled in Edmonton after the War. After her husband's retirement from the Canadian Forces they moved to Ottawa and later to Perth. Marjorie rejoined the workforce in 1970, first as a nurse at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, then as the assistant administrator of the Bronson Home for Ladies, and finally as the first administrator of the Grimes Cancer Lodge. Marjorie is survived by her husband Rob, her children Robert A (Susan), John C.A. (Joanne), Betty J. (William A. Roger), E. Maureen (Bob Murphy); 6 grandchildren, David Thompson, Michael Thompson, Michael Roger (Colleen), Kelly (Jeff Hayes), Leigh (Mark Crawford) and Katherine Roger; 5 great-grandchildren, and sister Edith Paxton. Marjorie is predeceased by her brothers Jack and Andrew and her sisters Mabel, Elizabeth and Jean. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Saturday, September 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Those wishing may make donations to a charity of choice. We would like to thank all of the staff of the West End Villa for their service to our mother, Marjorie.
