McAVOY, Carmel Mary (nee Cavanaugh) (longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Brockville St. Vincent de Paul Hospital Auxiliary,Brockville and charter member of Catholic Womens League at St. Francis Xavier Parish) - Peacefully at Providence Manor on Thursday, June 28, 2007 in her 104th year. Carmel McAvoy, predeceased by her loving husband Dr. James Ross McAvoy (1987) and by her son Joseph (1957). Loving mother of Margaret Mary Mooney (the late Orville) of Brockville, Rev. Paul McAvoy of Kingston and Peter W. McAvoy (Di) of Ottawa. Dearly remembered by many nieces and nephews. The youngest child of ten, daughter of the late Peter Cavanaugh and Euphemia Donegan. Carmel was raised in Perth on the basin where her father kept his boats, later moving to Smiths Falls with her family. Carmel worked in the Bank of Commerce, moving to Brockville when her father retired from the Railroad, and it was there that she met her future husband Dr. J.R. McAvoy, marrying in 1927. Carmel's life was her husband, four children, church, friends and Highbury in the Willows Cottage on the River. The family will receive friends at the TOWNSHIP CHAPEL of the GORDON F. TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOMES, 435 Davis Drive (Centennial & Taylor Kidd Blvd), Kingston, on Tuesday, July 3rd between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our lady of Lourdes Church, Days Road, Kingston, on Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 at 11 a.m. Rite of Committal with prayers in Old St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Brockville, Ontario. No flowers please. Memorial donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or the U.H.K.F. (Providence Continuing Care Centre) would be appreciated by her family. In the care of GORDON F.
