MCCONKEY, Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Nichols) - of Kincardine, and formerly of Lakefield, at Trillium Court, on Sunday, September 2, 2007, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Donald McConkey. Dear mother of Joan (Terry) Blewett of Kincardine. Cherished grandmother of Libby Blewett and Casey (Tim) Riehl and great-grandmother of Dayle and Luke Riehl. Loved sister of Bill Nichols of Peterborough, Rod (Ruth) Nichols of R.R. #3 Lakefield, Jim (Edna) Nichols of Toronto, and Peggy (Gord) Stewart of Winnipeg, and sister-in- law of Dorothy Nichols of Lakefield, Joan Nichols of Deep River, Bertrice Armstrong of RR#1 Lakefield, and Edna McIlmoyl of Peterborough. Predeceased by brothers, Harry and his wife Lucy, Don Nichols, Bob Nichols and his wife Mary, and Doug Nichols. Betty & her husband Don operated a resort on Chemong Lake in the Kawarthas for many years. Later Betty worked for Trentway-Wager, traveling extensively in Canada & the United States. She loved to entertain and was happiest when their home was filled with family and friends. The last 3 years, Betty has lived in Kincardine, happy to be near her family.
