WOODS, The Honourable Justice Lloyd A. - Born June 14, 1926, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2007 in Kingston, Ontario, with his family by his side. Loving husband of Donna Woods for 48 years. Father to Doug of Simcoe; Bill (Steven) of Toronto; Tom (Shelley) of Kingston; and Laura Quibell (Tony) of Peterborough. Adored by his grandchildren Megan, Travis, Liam, Anna, Donnie, and Ali. Predeceased by his parents Alvin Mostyn Woods and Anna Mae Woods. Brother of Marion MacNeil of Montreal. Lloyd graduated from Queen's University in 1948 and obtained his Law degree from Osgoode Hall in 1952. Lloyd practiced law in Kingston for many years as a partner in the law firm of Henderson and Woods. Lloyd was appointed to the Bench in 1977 in Lindsay, Ontario where he resided with his family for 15 years before retiring to Kingston. Lloyd worked for the Federal Pension Appeals Board prior to his illness. Lloyd was very active in his community, including the Par Christie singers, acting in many musical productions and supported the Queens Golden Gael's football team. Lloyd was a member of The Cataraqui Golf and Country Club and served on the Board of Governors of Kingston General Hospital. Lloyd was happiest at the family cottage on Clear Lake. On behalf of the family, sincere thanks to the nursing staff of the K.G.H. Intensive Care Unit for their thoughtful and dedicated care of Lloyd and their support of his family. The family will receive friends at the ROBERT J. REID & SONS FUNERAL HOME, “THE CHAPEL ON THE CORNER“, 309 Johnson Street (at Barrie Street) on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Chalmers United Church 212 Barrie Street (at Earl St.) on Saturday August 4, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Interment at a later date.
