Philip Albert BELL

BELL, Philip Albert - CD in his 91st year after a brief illness at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario on September 12, 2007. He served in Sicily, Italy and England with the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment, 1939-45 and served in the RCAF, 1949-67. Following his retirement from the military, he worked for Customs & Excise in Trenton, Ontario. Son of the late John and Mabel Bell, Marmora, Philip was the beloved husband of Mary Clare Bell (nee Barnard), his wife of 65 years, of Waterloo, Ontario. Philip and Mary met in London, England during WWII and were married there in St. Bartholomew the Great Church, September 1942. Predeceased by his brothers Alex Bell (Trenton), Graham Bell (Marmora), and sister Margaret MacLean (Peterborough). Survived by his sister Irene McMillen (Maynooth, recently of Marmora), brothers Allan Bell (Lindsay) and Donald (Ethel) Bell (Peterborough) and his children Jacqueline McFee (Robert), Hilary Bell (Michael Beerden), Alayne Korczynski (Maurizio) and Geoffrey Bell (Susan) and grandchildren Shelagh Kitney (Alex Poei), Christopher Kitney (Jessica Parker), Benjamin Korczynski, Jacob Korczynski (Mary-Beth Liberatore), Nathan Korczynski and Emily Green (Rob) and Rachel Bell. “Stop all the clocks.“ We will miss him for his active mind and prodigious memory, his handyman ways, his inner farmer - always feeling the urge to plant something in the spring!, his political fury, his polished shoes and his yearly quest for the perfect maple cream fudge, but most of all we will miss his love and support. Cremation has taken place in Waterloo, Ontario. A graveside memorial service will be held at Zion Cemetery, Marmora, Ontario on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 2:00 pm.
