KENNEDY, Jessie Violet (nee Manitowabi) - 82 years Monday September 3rd, 2007 at the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current. Jessie was an independent person who loved to travel, collect recipes, meet new people and enjoyed visiting. Jessie had a strong faith in the Catholic Church, she was a member of the Holy Cross Parish. She was involved in her community in the Amik-ook Seniors Committee and attended many elder's gathering. She travelled to Jerusalem and went on other pilgrimages. She retired from the Harper Hospital in Detroit, and returned to Wikwemikong in the early 80's.Jessie was a goal-setter, who wrote her goals down, and check marked them as she completed them. She often wrote lists and marked dates of friends and relatives birthdays. Jessie never forgot to send birthday cards and was always giving. She was an appreciative woman who always looked at the brighter side of things. She could always be counted on for a good laugh was always humourous without even trying. She valued her family, always looking out for them and doing whatever she could to make them happy. Beloved wife of the late James Kennedy. Loving mother of A Eugene Manitowabi (wife Josephine) of Wikwemikong. Dear daughter of Louis & Pauline Manitowabi (both predeceased). Will be missed by sister Lottie Manitowabi (Echo predeceased), Blanche Jacko (predeceased) and brothers Andrew Manitowabi (friend Veronica) of Wikwemikong, Gordon Manitowabi (friend Ursula) of Hanmer and Roland Manitowabi of Wikwemikong. Cherished grandmother of five grandchildren Rachel, Colleen, Ruben, Arthur, Wilson and six great grandchildren. Survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at St. Ignatius Church, Buzwah, Ontario. Funeral Mass at 11:00am Friday September 7th, 2007 Holy Cross Mission, Wikwemikong, Ontario. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
