MATHÉ, Charles Herbert “Herb“ - In loving memory of Charles Herbert “Herb“ Mathé, 91 years, who passed away Thursday, September 6th, 2007 at his home in Copper Cliff, where he had proudly lived independently until his death. Born in Fort William, Herb had a rewarding 42 year career at INCO Smelter, retiring as General Foreman. Copper Cliff was his home for over 60 years and he was a proud fixture of the community, whether walking his dog, skiing or attending hockey games. He was blessed with a long and healthy life, and the privilege to die at home, in his sleep. Herb will be greatly missed by his family who meant the world to him. He had a special bond with his granddaughter, as a friend they could rely on, and enjoy fishing, hiking and exploring in the summer on Manitoulin Island and winters at the arena. Even as adults the first place to visit on trips home was grandpas. This love and joy continued to the next generation and his great grandchildren became his new buddies. Beloved husband of Cecile (Martel) Mathé, predeceased 1978. Loving father of Darryl (wife Laurie) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Erin (husband Brian Morley) of Kanata and Meghan of Vancouver, and great grandchildren Alexandria and Taryn. Dear brother of Irene Robertson of Oshawa, predeceased by Pearl Taylor and Eugene. Dear brother-in-law of Larry and Rosalie Martel of Copper Cliff, Helen Cassidy of Sarnia and Florence Martel of Sudbury. Funeral Mass in St. Stanislaus Church, Copper Cliff, Monday, September 10th, 2007 at 10 a.m. Interment in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Cancer Center would be appreciated. Donations or condolences may be made directly online at lougheed.org. Arrangements entrusted to the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME.
