BURKE, Mrs. Marie (Knight) - formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence, Copper Terrace Long Term Care Facility, Chatham on Monday, September 3, 2007, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Edgar T. Burke (1972). Dearly loved mother of Brenda Smith and her husband Larry of Chatham, Robert Burke of St. Thomas, and the late Anne Lilley. Cherished grandmother of Kathy, June, Beverly, Roy, Anthony, Eric, Christine, Keith, Melissa and Justin. Also survived by several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her own immediate family, having been predeceased by two sisters, Eva Marie and Laura, and six brothers, Donald, Roy, Morley, Carl, Herbie and Alan. Born in West Lorne, Ontario, April 12, 1920, the daughter of the late Arthur and Myrtle (Timson) Knight. Mrs. Burke was a former employee of the Imperial Bakery, St. Thomas. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and private interment will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park. A public memorial service will be held at The Kingdom Hall, R.R.#7, St. Thomas (Gore Rd. & #3 Highway) on Saturday, September 22nd at 2 p.m. Memorial donations to the charity of one's choice gratefully acknowledged.
