Lowell Edward BROWN

BROWN, Lowell Edward ~ On Friday, September 14, 2007 at Norfolk General Hospital, in his 88th year; predeceased by his wife Hilda (Moore) Brown (2000); dearly loved uncle of many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; will be missed by his special friend Van Brett; predeceased by his parents George Edward Brown and Mary Elizabeth Forrest, sister Helen Loveday (1984) and brother Orloff W. Brown (1992). Lowell was a veteran of the Second World War with Highland Light Infantry of Canada for five years, went into France on D-Day with the unit and served in European theatre as Platoon Sgt. with Carrier Platoon. He was wounded in France and again in Holland 21 days before VE Day and was awarded the Oak Leaf by the King's Order. He was a member of the H.L.I. Association in Galt, Kitchener and Brantford. He was employed by Booth Transport for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was also past member of the Who Did It Club. In keeping with Lowell's wishes, cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Lowell's life will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church (St. George and Market Streets), Port Dover, officiated by his good friend Rt. Rev. Clarence Mitchell, Rev. Canon Bob Schroeder and Father Kendall Reimer. For those wishing donations to St. Paul's Anglican Church Memorial Fund or London Health Sciences would be appreciated by the family.
