SALICCO, Rena (Concessi) - Passed peacefully surrounded by her family at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her beloved husband Atlantic John Salicco (1949). Loving mother of Jean Saltarelli and Johanna Iocca and her husband Ross all of Port Colborne. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Carmen Saltarelli and his wife Lisa, Angelo Iocca and his wife Sandi, John Saltarelli and his wife Audrey and Paul Saltarelli and his wife Kristina. Rena was blessed to have 8 great-grandchildren; Matthew, Michael, Drew, Jacob, Keana, Emma, Lexi and Nathan. Survived by her sisters; Annie Macoritto, Lena Buccilli, Mary Jackson, Jessie Hanuschuk and her husband Maurice and her sisters-in-law Gloria Concessi and Anne Salicco. Predeceased by her parents Domenic and Vincenza Concessi, her brother Nick Concessi, her sister Antonette Concessi and her son-in-law Jerry Saltarelli. Rena was born, raised and lived in Port Colborne her entire life. She was a very active woman who would have “out-walked“ anyone in Port Colborne. She was employed at Bick's Pickles in Dunnville for 25 years. Aside from her work, Grandma was the “family babysitter“ for her several grandchildren which she was so proud of. She looked forward to the next opportunity to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When she had the desire, walking to Avondale to buy scratch tickets was her pleasure. Time spent with her daughters at the Casino or whether it be playing Bingo at the Carnival, she loved the excitement of her surroundings. Most recently, Rena really enjoyed attending the social groups and day activities at Northland Pointe, where she was able to reminisce 'old times' with friends. The family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Vigil prayers will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at St. Therese of Lisieux R.C. Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bill Derousie as celebrant. Rite of Committal to follow at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery, Port Colborne. If so desired, memorial donations can be made to the Port Colborne General Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
