NGIRA-BATWARE, Clement – Of Welland, at the NHS-Welland Site, on Tuesday, September 17, 2007 at the age of 66 years. Cherished husband of Fetee Ngira-Batware. Beloved father of Mukono, Rutema, Ngirababo, Fatima, Ihumure, Rwampiri and Sebudwege Ngira-Batware. Predeceased by parents Kanyamiringa & Nyarandamusta Ngira-Batware. Born in Ihumure, Republic Democratic of Congo, Mr. Ngira-Batware was educated in the Congo. He was employed as a professor in the History Department of the University of the Congo (IPN). As well, Mr. Ngira- Batware served as Director of National Communication of the Congo and was an author of two books pertaining to national politics in the Congo . Further, he was magazine editor of “Le Bosquet”, dealing in traditional African cultures and was political leader for the Tutsi political movement in the Congo , fighting for the Tutsi civil and political rights. In 1999 Mr. Ngira-Batware and his family moved to Canada , residing in Montreal until 2005, went they took residence in Welland. Friends and are invited to visit the Ngira-Batware family on Friday, September 21st from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the H. L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland. Father Paul Macdonald will celebrate the funeral mass at Eglise Sacre Coeur, 72 Empire Street, Welland , on Saturday, September 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with the Rite of Committal to follow. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. 10832463
