Franklin Joseph SMAGATA

SMAGATA, Franklin Joseph - of Welland passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side, on Monday September 17, 2007 in his 42nd year. Cherished son of Margaret and the late John Smagata (1992). Frank will be missed by his brothers Ed (Linda), Joe (Shari) and Jeff, sisters Fran Smagata (Don Simon), Joanne Tsanoff (Ron Venne), and Marge Smagata. Frank was uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was a special uncle to Sierra Miller. Frank was predeceased by his brothers Gerald, Ronald, Michael, Robert and his sister Kathryn in 1963, his twin brother Paul Joseph in 1966 and his brother John Jr. in 1989. He was born and raised in Welland where he attended Westbrook Secondary School. He went on to attend Bible School and was aspiring to become a missionary in underdeveloped countries such as Zambia where he was sponsoring an orphan child. At Frank's request, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the family home, 315 Wright Street, Welland on Saturday September 22, 2007 from 1-4 p.m. where Rev. Stephen Bolhous will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Frank will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in a private family ceremony at a later date.
