OBITUARY SHIRLEY LILLIAN RICE (NEE MILLETTE) In loving memory of Shirley Lillian Rice (nee Millette) who died peacefully Wednesday morning, August 29, 2007 at the Verdun General Hospital. Born in Montreal, July 1, 1935; she was the daughter of the late Rene Millette and Ida Redmond. She was predeceased by her son Gary Bryer Rice in 1980. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Montreal. She went to Catholic School and to church often and had aspirations of becoming a nun. Her favorite childhood place was Parc Lafontaine. Her childhood hero - her father. She met her husband (of 52 years) at the age of 16 at a dance. They married 4 years later, moved to Ville Lasalle and began a family. These were her happiest years. She was a great mom. As a young woman Shirley had been a model for Eaton's, then a buyer for Zellers Dept. Store, then later was employed by the Hudson's Bay Co. until retirement. Shirley had a passion for books, both for pleasure and knowledge and was a frequent patron of the library. She was also an avid letter writer. In younger years she enjoyed figure skating and skiing. Shirley always kept her family at the forefront of her thoughts and prayers but over her life span came to know the importance of true friendships and held them, also, dear to her heart. She is survived by her husband Bryer W. Rice of Ville Lasalle; her son James R. Rice and grandsons Bryer and Derek of Red Deer, AB., her daughter Terry Lyn Sheets (nee Rice), son-in-law Steven and grandsons Dylan and Willy of Alburgh, Vt. Funeral service with cremated remains will be held by Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont (514-279-6540), on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow.
