DOW, Irene (nee Scott). Passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2007 after celebrating her one-hundreth birthday on August 24th surrounded by family and friends who had gathered from all over North and South America. Beloved mother of Joan Carmichael of Pointe Claire, Quebec and David Dow of Reno, Nevada and the late Debbie Dow, she was Grammie Leslie Carmichael of Bogota, Colombia, Penny Carmichael of Ottawa, Ontario, Anna Dow of San Francisco, California and Vincent Dow of Los Angeles, California as well as great-grandmother to Mateo, William, Gigi and Islay. Irene moved from the Eastern Townships of Quebec in 1930 with her widowed mother, brothers and sister to live in Montreal. She was married to Donald Dow from 1935 until his death in 1975 while raising their family in NDG and Town of Mount Royal- his "blue eyed vixen with the dark curly hair and the sweet disposition". They were ardent Montrealers and aficionados of the MSO and the Musee des Beaux-Arts. A private family funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 14. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 9/13/2007
