BECKETT, Ruth Peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, Ruth Beckett (nee Stephens) of Ottawa, Ontario, at age 88. Beloved wife of John Beckett. Daughter of the late Rebecca and William Stephens. Loving mother of Lori Birce, John Beckett Jr. (Karen Beckett), Claudia Peel (Robert Peel) and Kathy Vernon (Ben Vernon). Dear grandmother of Shawna Birce, Christopher Birce, Sarah Beckett, David Beckett, Cindy Smith, Cheryle Smith, Tara Peel and the late Robin Peel, and great-grandmother of Victoria Peel and Shaelynn Birce. She is survived by her sisters Jean Stephens and Maude Smith and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Hunt and her brothers Bill Stephens, Donald Stephens, Norman Stephens and Stewart Stephens. Ruth was a veteran of WWII. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road. on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday at 2:30 p.m. followed by interment at Merivale United Cemetery.
