ABRAIRA, Robert (Bob). Passed away peacefully on September 13, 2007, at the age of seventy-five, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1932 and made his way to Brooklyn, NY in the late 1940's. Out for a walk one day on Flatbush Ave., he met the love of his life Edwina Alfred of Kahnawake; they were married in 1951 and spent the last fifty-six years happily together. He leaves to mourn Edwina, and children Cathy (Mike), Dorothy (Alan), Robert Jr. (Janice), Ronald, Lisa (Anthony), son-in-law Randy; and grandchildren Trisha, Reid, Adam, Kade, Wade, Ryan, Tynan, Rafael, Laura, Drew, and Russell. Bob and Edwina went for their final walk together on Sunday morning, September 9, during the Festival de la Sante. The family would like to thank the emergency team at the Olympic Stadium, and the staff at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital who did their best to help him "keep on running." Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, at 11 a.m. in the St. Francis Xavier Mission in Kahnawake. The family will be in church for 10 a.m. to accept condolences. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Kahnawake Youth Center. Published in the Montreal Gazette from 9/14/2007 - 9/15/2007
