BUCHANAN, Celia Esther Orton (nee Rodger) Born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, she was the devoted wife of David. Loving mother of Alice (Colin) of Ipswich, England, Hamish of Toronto and Barbara (Ian) of Ottawa. Grandmother to George, Rachel, Celia and Gemma. The family wish to thank Dr. J.K. MacPherson, the medical staff at the Victoria General Hospital and the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their compassionate care in her final years. Celia served in the British A.T.S. during World War II as a code-breaker and subsequently trained as a teacher. She emigrated to Canada with David in 1954 and as soon as the children could care for themselves, she resumed her first love as a teacher at the Ottawa Crippled Childrens Treatment Centre and subsequently as Principal at Quarries and Devonshire Public Schools before retiring to Victoria in 1984. A Memorial Service will be conducted from MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, Victoria, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Ian Victor and the Reverend Dr. Arthur Currie officiating. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Gift to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com .
