BARILKO, Alexander 19322007 - The family announces with great sorrow his death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Sunday, July 15th, 2007 at the age of 75 years. Loving husband of Mary (nee Sarkotich) of Schumacher and dearest father of Evelyn Barilko of Timmins. Brother in-law of Walter Sarkotich of Schumacher. He is also survived by his only sister, Mary Cattarello of Timmins and brother Edward Barilko of Oshawa. Predeceased by his parents Stephen & Alexandra Barilko as well as by his brothers William & Nicohlas. Alexander was the youngest son of a pioneer Timmins family. His parents and grandparents immigrated from Russia in 1912 and purchased land on Cedar St. from Noah Timmins. The family built the International Hotel, an early Timmins landmark. Alex operated the Hotel from 1965-1979. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19th, 2007 in the CHAPEL of the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Fr. Alexis O'Lenga will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Lung Association or the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18th, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, 150 Balsam St., S., Timmins.
