MARIA, Maria (nee D'Amico) Died peacefully in her sleep, at home on Sunday September 9, 2007. Cherished wife of Guiseppe (Joe) Maria, with whom she celebrated over 58 years of marriage. Predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe (1986) and Paulina (1978) D'Amico. Devoted and adored mother, mother in law and best friend to Sara and Jack Agosta, and Anthony and Dale Maria. The best Nonna in the world to Maria Vasapolli (Antonio), Dina Masiarek (Thomas), Sebastiano Agosta, Anthony Maria (Rachelle Norris), Toronto, Julienne Maria (Andrew Rousseau), Joseph Maria (Shelby Fazekas) and Victoria Maria. Delighted Bis-Nonna to Alexander Meloche, Salvo and Luca Vasapolli, Massimo and Christian Masiarek. She leaves behind many family members in Italy. Maria arrived in Canada in December 1954 with her beloved husband Joe, two small children and a suitcase. They settled in Windsor Ontario, where they opened Aurora Pastry in a small storefront on Erie St. They expanded and relocated to its present location at Erie and Elsmere. Maria and Joe became well known throughout Essex County for their fine italian pastries and wedding cake masterpieces, successfully operating the business until retirement in 1988. She was a faithful member of St. Angela Merici Church and a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Giovanni Caboto Club. Maria enjoyed all that life offered her, but was absolutely delighted to be in the presence of her family. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Monday September 10, 2007 from 7 - 9 and Tuesday from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Prayers Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday September 12, 2007 at 10:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home, then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
