WHELAN, Thomas Joseph At 84 years of age, Thomas passed away peacefully after a long illness, on September 2, 2007. Son of the late Charles and Frances (Kelly) Whelan. Dear brother of Eugene and wife Elizabeth of Amherstburg, and Edward and wife Pemrose, of Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Gertrude Whelan (1956), Bernard (1981) and wife Lea (1999) Whelan, Martin Whelan (1997), Bryce Whelan (1998), Helen (1999) and husband Stan Griffin (1985), and Henry Whalen (2004). Survived by his loving godson and close nephew Mark Whelan, of Amherstburg. Loving Uncle of Gaile (Garry) Whelan Enns of Manitoba, Sheila (Randy) Whelan and Tim (Debbie) Whelan all of Saskatchewan, Charles Whelan and Shawn Whelan of Windsor, Jim (Maria) Whelan of Seaforth, Verna Whelan and Tina Whelan of Windsor, Terry (Joe) Whelan Dupont and Susan Whelan of Amherstburg, Cathy (Brian) Whelan Molloy of Burlington, and Ann (Jim) Griffin Steinshouer of Arizona. He is also survived by his aunts Helen (Kelly) Wrynn, Rose (Pattenden) Kelly, and Blanche (King) Kelly, many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Uncle Tom farmed for seventy years in Anderdon Township and was a member of the Harrow Co-op for many years. If you so desire, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or a Charity of your choice would be appreciated. At Thomas's request, he was cremated and a private family burial service was held on Thursday, September 6, 2007 with interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Amherstburg. He will be deeply missed by his family. A tree will be planted in memory of Tom in the Sutton Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held Sunday, September 30, 2007.
