Richard Barrington ELWORTHY

ELWORTHY, Richard Barrington Rick passed away July 29. He was born Dec. 7, 1923 in Vancouver B.C. to Violet (Wells) and Fredrick Barrington Elworthy. Rick's young years were spent in Vancouver where he had many friends, (some of which he has kept through the years). After leaving the Navy in 1945, he got involved in the Automobile business. Eventually he and his partner, Dave Watt, bought and operated Volkswagen Pacific of Canada. Rick was able to enjoy his hobbies of golfing at the Capilano Golf Course and raising and racing thoroughbreds. Rick retired early and moved to Scottsdale, AZ. Retirement didn't last long as he opened a new business, McCormick Ranch Custom Pools. There he enjoyed selling and managing his new company (it was there that he first met Madonna). If that wasn't enough to keep him busy he owned and operated a restaurant / lounge for one year. After selling both businesses, Rick did retire. He married Madonna (Berg) his best friend in 1983. They enjoyed life to the fullest, having lots of friends in BC, they would spend 4 months each year in the Vancouver/White Rock area. Rick is survived by his devoted wife Madonna of 24 years, his loving daughters Deborah Elworthy of Blaine, Wa., Shawn Monette (Ron) of Lakeside, AZ., ErinLeigh David of Tacoma Wa.; his loving son Brett Barrington Elworthy (Liz Girardin ) of Tempe, Az.: Andree Norris of Victoria, the mother of Rick's children, grandchildren Lance Campbell, Clayton and Danielle Monette, Maxx and Trevor Elworthy; 4 step children, 7 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
