SASSEVILLE, Dr. Roger Philippe Lugé 1950-2007 - Our courageous brother Roger passed away peacefully in Toronto on August 9, 2007 at the age of 56 years. At last, Roger, you will have peace and joy. Roger was a man of science, who led an active and fulfilling life. After having attained a PhD. in Inorganic Photochemistry from Carleton University, he found success as a Research Associate at the University of Toronto and Western Ontario, publishing a variety of conference papers and manuscripts in various scientific journals. Roger went on to achieve a post-doctoral fellowship in Physical Organic Chemistry before finally embarking on his career. He loved to read, travel, cook, play billiards, and had a passion for Bridge, having twice been a Gold Master. Roger leaves behind his beloved son Riley Sasseville of Winnipeg, his loving sister Dianna Bertrand (Guy) of Timmins, and his loving brother Dennis Sasseville (Pamela) of Timmins. Roger is also survived by his nieces, Maureena Courtney (Paul) of Picton and Rose-Marie Deacon (Gordon) of South Porcupine and also his nephews, Neil Sasseville (Brenda) of South Porcupine and Clinton Sasseville (Dawn) of Timmins. In addition to cousins, many cherished friends at Hazel's Bridge club and Bagel Haven in Toronto, Roger will be missed and mourned by nine great nieces and nephews as well as his aunts Peggy Scarlette (Carson) of Kitchener and Annie Sasseville (Henry) of Timmins. Roger is pre-deceased by his father Philippe Sasseville (1990), his mother Pearl Mackenzie Sasseville (2002), his brother Kirk Sasseville (1969) and his step- sister Elaine Smith (1996). As per Roger's request, there will be no visitation or service; however, there will be a small ceremony at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery with Fr. Pat Lafleur on Friday September 7th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated.
