Nazaire D’Amours of Kapuskasing, died at Extendicare Nursing Home on June 14, 2007. Mr. D’Amours was born on Feb. 2, 1916 in Trois-Pistoles, Quebec. He was a health counsellor. Mr. D’Amours was the first teacher in Gregoire Mills and owned a sawmill on Chain Lakes Road. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, the Golden Age Club, a counsellor for the Addiction Research Foundation and a school council member for many years. He enjoyed fishing, reading and travelling. He is survived by his wife Jeannette; step daughters: Doris Coutu of Sturgeon Falls, Jo-Ann Dozois of the Dominican Republic and Lyne (Michel) Gauthier of Kapuskasing; step sons: Ronald (Denise) Audet, Laurent (Lisette) of Val Rita and Luc Audet of Kap; sister Thérèse Caron of La Pocatière, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mr. D’Amours was predeceased by many brothers and sisters: Jos, Charles, Jeanne Jean, Anna Rioux, Jean-Baptiste, Achille, Marie-Louise Favreau, Alice Pelletier, Appolinaire, Gérard, Roland and Rose Vandal. Father Jean-Paul Décarie led the funeral service June 16 at Immaculée Conception. Mr. D’Amours was be interred at the Kapuskasing Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
