Englehart resident Margaret Tubman died July 14, 2007 at the Englehart and District Hospital. Born in Heaslip Township on July 13, 1920 to George and Margaret Porter, she married Reuben Tubman in Englehart on December 3, 1941. Mrs. Tubman enjoyed family times, gardening, baking, camping and fishing. She was also a member of Branch 104 of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary where she was past president. Mrs. Tubman is survived by her children Wayne (Mary) of Munster, Ontario, Linda (Larry Foulan) of Burlington, Lee of St. Thomas, Garry (Susan) of London and Doug of Englehart; sisters Irene Stone of Englehart, Beatrice (Romeo Couillard) of Kirkland Lake, Grace Mills of Englehart, Muriel Plaunt of Englehart; brothers Donald Porter from Cochrane and Sheldon Porter from Sudbury; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Reuben; daughter Donna; daughter-in-law Collette; sister Alice McLean; brothers John, Lloyd, Leonard, Hugh, Meryl and Murray Porter. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted there July 18 at 11 a.m. by Linda Martin. Burial is at the Englehart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
