OBITUARY WITOLD ARNOLD KWASNIEWSKI Passed away peacefully on September 15, 2007 in his eighty-eighth year. He will be greatly missed by Margaret, his wife of 59 years. Cherished father of John, Stefan, Barry (Natalie) and Grandpa of Matthew. Thank you to Dr. Nguyen and the dedicated nurses and staff of Unit 2A at Ste. Anne's Veterans Hospital. Special thanks to the hospital volunteers who helped Arnold keep his love of music alive, and to Katherine, who helped with Arnold's many arts and crafts projects. Arnold was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Polish Army (1941-43). Captured by the Soviets, he was imprisoned in Siberia. After his release, he served again in the Royal Air Force (Polish Squadron 309) until the end of the war. After the war, Arnold settled in Nottingham, England, where he went to technical college to learn the textile trade. He worked as a lace designer in England before moving to Montreal in 1953, to take up a position as production manager for the Nalpac Company, where he worked for many years. Arnold was an avid outdoorsman and Scoutmaster. He enjoyed soccer, skiing, swimming, fishing and dancing. He also enjoyed woodworking and was never without a project. A private family service will be held at the Catholic Chapel, Ste Anne's Hospital. Should you wish, donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. Son of the late Jan Kwasniewski and the late Maria Wysocka, and brother of the late Stanislaw Kwasniewski. Served in the Polish Army (1941-1943) and subsequently in the Royal Air Force (Squadron 309) during World War II. Scoutmaster, outdoorsman and woodworker, Arnold was never without a project. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Unit 2A at the St. Anne's Veterans Hospital. Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated volunteers who kept Arnold's love for music and arts alive.
