TUBMAN, Thomas Leroy Retired Conductor C.N.R. Peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 succumbing to cancer in his 79th year. He leaves to mourn his loss sons Roy (Buntham) and William (Leslie) as well as grandsons Andrew and Eric of whom he was very proud. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie (Pallett) with whom, as he often said, he spent the best years of his life. He remembered her as a wonderful person. Tom will be missed by Marjorie's sons Donald (Lois) of Lloydminister and Grant and Colin (Lucy) Duncan of Ottawa. He is survived by two brothers George and Howard (Shirley), by his sister Audrey all of Ottawa and by his brother-in-law Sidney Irwin of Morrisburg. Predeceased by his sister Isabel Irwin. Tom served for 35 years as a Trainman and Conductor for the Canadian National Railway. Friends will remember Tom for his interest in gardening and the leisure time that he enjoyed at his Ottawa River cottage. Tom was well known for his keen memory and deep knowledge of the history and geography of Carleton County. At Tom's wish there will be no visitation prior to his cremation. His cremated remains will be interred at Munster Union Cemetery where a private family gathering will be held.
